About me

Hello to you, random person who managed to somehow come across my blog.

I'm Abbie, a 25-year-old British girl attempting to figure out this who "adulting thing". This includes still having a chicken nugget obsession, knitting, gaming, watching Youtube and studying a subject that I'm hugely passionate about at university but when you tell someone what it is they are guaranteed to say "oh, I've never heard of that" (It's BSc Food Development and innovation for anyone interested)

However, in all seriousness, there is one thing in my life which has always been there and affects every decision that I have had to make in my life; mental health problems.

For as long as I can remember, both my parents have had some type of mental health problems, more specifically my dad with it has impacted my families life dramatically (I won't go into too much detail as it is personal information to my dad) but somehow the 3 of us have found a way to overcome all this and it appeared that I had broken the "family curse" as we call it.

But that wasn't to be the case...

In February of 2015, after many years of being the "normal" one of the family, the pressure of AS-level exams coming up, watching the problems of my parents and many other factors, I suffered from a mild mental breakdown and was diagnosed with mild depression and a sever anxiety disorder. Since then I have been medicated for it; something that I have always been open about because it's important that people understand that those on medication aren't weak, but strong for getting the help they need.

Now, after 2 and a half years, I have decided to start "Abigail's anxieties", a blog where I will show the day-to-day life of a teen with a mental health problem along with general posts about my hobbies and interests; as a way to show that those with mental health problems are just like everyone else, they just sometimes need some understanding from others and a little more time.

SOOOOO...now all that stuff is out of the way, "come with me, and you'll be, in a world" of a teen with anxiety as I take you through my day-to-day life, showing both the good and the bad of mental health problems, how it affects me in decisions I make, and how I am honestly, just like everyone else xx
